Lil Bub, among the internet’s most popular felines, has died aged 8.

The feline’s owner, Mike Bridavsky, revealed her death to millions of followers on social media on Monday.

Lil Bub was best known for her unusual appearance – round eyes and an extending tongue. She was saved as a feral kitty and was born with several conditions, including dwarfism.

Mr Bridavsky said she assisted raise more than $700,000(₤540,000) for animal charities throughout her life time.

” Bub has made a huge distinction in the world of animal well-being, and in the lives of countless individuals worldwide,” a post on Instagram said

Lil Bub discovered online fame since of her unique appearance. Her feline dwarfism indicated she stayed kitten-sized throughout her life.

She was also polydactyl, with an additional toe on each paw, and had an underdeveloped jaw and no teeth which caused her tongue to always hang out.

Mr Bridavsky originally adopted Lil Bub as the “runt” of a litter of kittycats found by a buddy inside a tool-shed in Indiana.

In an interview, he described her “one of nature’s happiest mishaps” and insisted she lived a happy, healthy life in spite of her numerous health concerns.

He developed a Tumblr blog site for the cat in 2011 and she went viral after photos of her ended up on the front page of discussion site Reddit.

Lil Bub went on to get recommendation offers, product lines and even her own YouTube show and documentary series.

Her owner used her popularity to raise money for charity, including assistance for other felines with unique requirements through the American Society for the Avoidance of Cruelty to Animals.
