Tuesday’s jailing of a beauty parlor owner in Texas for defying a coronavirus shutdown order just does not cut it, U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw wrote Tuesday.

In truth, the punishment dispensed to Dallas entrepreneur Shelley Luther was another example of public authorities overstepping their authority throughout the crisis, the congressman wrote on Twitter.

” These penalties are NOT simply,” Crenshaw wrote. “They are not reasonable. Small-minded ‘leaders’ across the country have actually become intoxicated with power. This must end.”

GOVERNMENT GONE TOO FAR? STATES REBUKED FOR CORONAVIRUS LCOKDOWN STEPS

At a hearing, Judge Eric Moye called Luther’s action “selfish,” and claimed she had actually “disrespected the orders of the state, the county and this city,” FOX 4 of Dallas-Fort Worth reported

Luther claimed she needed to reopen her organisation since a federal loan had gotten here far too late to assist her, according to the Dallas Early Morning News

He stated Luther could prevent jail if she would say sorry, pay a fine, and remain shut down until a statewide resuming of beauty salons works Friday.

But Luther decided for jail rather.

” I need to disagree with you, sir, when you say that I’m selfish because feeding my kids is not self-centered,” Luther informed the judge, according to FOX 4. “I have hairdressers that are going starving due to the fact that they would rather feed their kids. So, sir, if you think the law is more crucial than kids getting fed, then please go ahead with your decision. But I am not going to shut the salon.”

It was the most current example where Americans were finding themselves up against what many deemed harsh punishments.

In late April, a 40- year-old Idaho mom was apprehended for allegedly declining to leave a closed play ground where she had brought her two children to play.

Her arrest later on prompted a demonstration at town hall by more than 100 fans.

In North Carolina, members of the “Resume NC” group were apprehended recently, implicated of resisting a public officer and breaching the Democratic guv’s executive order.

” If you feel the requirement to stay home, it is your God-given right to do so. However we want to live!” suspect Ashley Elaina Smith stated. “[Gov.] Roy Cooper has actually shown once again and again how out of touch he truly is. With his illogical statements of who’s necessary and who’s not, he’s effectively damaged generational household organisations and numerous good businesses alike. He’s got to go. November’s coming, child.”

Across the nation, guvs such as Laura Kelly of Kansas and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan have faced opposition for the shutdown orders, such as Kelly’s limits on church events– which faced GOP opposition and later on a short-lived restraining order — and Whitmer’s limitations versus traveling to loved ones’ houses, and on sales of products such as gardening products, both of which were scaled back after public demonstrations
