NFL commish and execs ordered to testify at Rice Rice’s appeal hearing!/scottclyerly/status/525266457773752321

One of the lesser reported aspects of the Ray Rice case has been Rice’s appeal of his indefinite suspension by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.  Rice’s argument in this appeal is that under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement between the players and the league, a player cannot be punished twice for the same infraction. Kind of like a union version of double jeopardy.

What Goodell and the NFL knew and when did they know is as at the heart of Rice’s argument and if Rice can prove that Goodell did know everything when he first issued the light suspension of two games, then the NFL isn’t allowed to slap Rice with the indefinite suspension.

Goodell and the NFL are claiming, however, they didn’t have all the information they needed to render a verdict initially and the indefinite suspension should stand.

But as Twitchy reported, there is some question if that’s really a true statement:

Well, the judge in the appeal now wants to know the details of exactly what Goodell knew and is ordering the commish and other Ravens executives to testify under oath. This could get entertaining real fast, to say the least:

Robert Muller being the former head of the FBI who was hired to conduct and independent investigation of Goodell and the NFL’s handling of the entire Rice affair.

And this:

Holy-moly. Muller must be salivating at the prospect of getting all of these top NFL officials under oath as he conducts his investigation.

The hearing is set for November 5-6 in New York City.

Rihanna to the NFL: ‘F*** you!’!/rihanna/status/511844530375892992

She does have a point as it looked like the NFL canceled her appearance last Thursday because she was a past victim of domestic who had reconciled with her abuser:

CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO, Fuck you! Y'all are sad for penalizing me for this.

— Rihanna (@rihanna) September 16, 2014

FWIW, the NFL said that she was cancelled not because of her past history, but because of the overall “tone” of the broadcast:

“We thought journalistically and from a tone standpoint, we needed to have the appropriate tone and coverage,” CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus told last week of the decision to bump Rihanna’s intro, among other features. “A lot of the production elements we wanted in the show are being eliminated because of time or tone.”

Now the “tone” has changed an it’s okay for her show? The fact is that Rihanna and her abuser, Chris Brown, are a known “on-again off-again couple.” The NFL is in a bind because there’s no way to decouple Rihanna’s abuse with the forgiveness of her abuser, but the NFL also doesn’t want to take into consideration Ray Rice’s wife’s forgiveness as it decides on his punishment.

And even worse for the NFL, they now look stupider than before for asking Rihanna to perform again only to get f-bombed for their outreach.

Politico’s Glenn Thrush: By cutting Ray Rice, Ravens cut income to his wife

While some wondered what the cutting of Ray Rice by the Baltimore Ravens would do to their fantasy football teams, Politico’s Glenn Thrush was confronting another “inconvenient truth”: By terminating Rice, the Ravens were also cutting the income of Rice’s wife, “whom they now care so deeply about.”

And what an income!

That aside, plenty were appalled by the message Thrush was sending.!/davesplash/status/509080932343504896!/SamSheehan/status/509095241623015424
