@BetteMidler Um, not necessarily.
— Michael J. Lambert (@rackoflambert) July 13, 2013
This afternoon, singer/actress Bette Midler used the George Zimmerman trial as an opportunity to bash guns:
We’ll never know what happened that night btwn Zimmerman & Martin. We do know if there hadn’t been a gun, they’d both be alive to tell us.
— Bette Midler (@BetteMidler) July 13, 2013
Many Twitter users, including several fans, didn’t agree.
@BetteMidler Wrong Bette, fists kill people too
— Diane Watson (@Firezin) July 13, 2013
@BetteMidler if GZ didn't have a gun & was so intent he could've ran over TM. & IF TM was intent he could've bashed his head in, w/out guns.
— Trailer Trash Momma (@tralrtrshmomma) July 13, 2013
@bettemidler Not if TM delivered one more fatal blow to GZ's head using concrete.
— TRUTH SEEKER (@abbasgirl68) July 13, 2013
@BetteMidler not necessarily… Sorry. People get beaten to death all the time. Nice try though
— trey robison (@trey_robison) July 13, 2013
It seems Bette is no better at logic than she is at climatology.
Editor’s note: We have edited the headline for clarity.
Whoa. I think Chris Matthews just said that Republicans are trying to push Sharia law.
— Joseph Weisenthal (@TheStalwart) October 17, 2012
Chris Matthews just said Romney/Ryan is trying to implement their own kind of Sharia law. #smh
— Right In Academia (@RightInAcademia) October 17, 2012
Yep. He went there. Don’t believe Matthews could possibly be that big a jackass? Check out the video and see for yourself.
A couple of tingling liberals applauded Matthews’ screwy hyperbole:
I love that Chris Matthews is referring to anti-choice “personhood” bills as Christian Sharia Law. #debate
— Zack Ford (@ZackFord) October 17, 2012
Chris Matthews just played the Sharia card, appropriate way to define Republicans’Taliban views on women’s reproductive rights.#Debate2012
— michelle celarier (@hedgeygrl) October 17, 2012
Appropriate? On what planet?
Chris Matthews makes a good point. Rs are so freaked about sharia; their attempt to run country on religious principle is no different.
— Jen Hintz (@jen_hintz) October 17, 2012
Uh, no. Comparing Republicans’ desire to assign personhood to and protect the unborn to a murderous theocratic law is not only ridiculous, it’s downright vile. The only point Matthews has ever had is the one that’s on top of his head.
Twitterers with a firm grasp on reality were thoroughly disgusted:
FOOL > Chris Matthews : ‘Personhood’ Amendments ‘Almost Like Sharia’ shar.es/c1O4Y No Obama – Vote for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan

If only. But this sort of insane verbal vomit is exactly what we’ve come to expect from the raving hack. Matthews himself is the sickest joke of all.

GOP Rep. Ed Royce on Huge Chavez: "Good riddance to this dictator."
— Jennifer Bendery (@jbendery) March 5, 2013
— MichaelMathes (@MichaelMathes) March 5, 2013
We’re relieved that the U.S. Department of State has officially distanced itself from Dennis Rodman, “private citizen” and good pal of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. That still leaves the troubling problem of Rep. Jose Serrano, who is not a private citizen and who quickly tweeted his praise of “Mr. President” Hugo Chavez on hearing of his death today.
Fortunately, Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, was able to find just the right words to mark the occasion of Chavez’ death.
— Foreign Affairs Cmte (@HFACrepublicans) March 5, 2013
Hugo Chavez was a tyrant who forced the people of Venezuela to live in fear. His death dents the alliance of anti-U.S. leftist leaders in South America. Good riddance to this dictator.
Venezuela once had a strong democratic tradition and was close to the United States. Chavez’s death sets the stage for fresh elections. While not guaranteed, closer U.S. relations with his key country in our Hemisphere are now possible.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was trying to send a private Direct Message to someone tonight, but he ended up Tweeting to the world instead. Of course, a mistweet is a great opportunity to poke a little fun:
@mcuban where? And will you buy me a beer? Or maybe I'll buy you one?
— Kirsten Berg (@kberggg) March 31, 2012
RT @mcuban: Stick around after gm so I can say hi …can I just say it now? HI!
— SteelchucK (@STeeLChUcK) March 31, 2012
To his credit, Cuban fessed up:
Maybe he has been taking Tweeting lessons from Sen. Charles Grassley.
As Twitchy reported, those who knew Adam Lanza said they weren’t surprised to hear his name mentioned in connection with the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Those who knew the school’s principal, though, say they’re not at all surprised to read reports that Dawn Hochsprung was killed in an attempt to overtake the gunman.
Friends of deceased principal Dawn Hochsprung said when they heard reports of her heroic actions they didn’t doubt it for a second #newtown
— Danny Gold (@DGisSERIOUS) December 14, 2012
Hochsprung, 47, was the mother and stepmother of 5 girls and joined Sandy Hook as principal in 2010. As with teacher Vicki Soto, she is being hailed as a hero for lunging at the shooter in an attempt to save lives.
